À partir d’un langage photographique rigoureux qui oscille entre démarche conceptuelle et abstraction, Audrey Bapt porte un regard attentif au vivant et à l’environnement. Dans son travail, la surface photographique vient révéler un inframince : un interstice du visible qui se place entre lumière et obscurité, entre micro et macro, révélé par la superposition de prises de vues et d’images dont les infimes variations produisent un rythme, une vibration. En se refusant à la facilité du visible et de l’identifiable, les œuvres d’Audrey Bapt s’enroulent d’un brouillard froid et minéral qui trouble l’œil mais permet à l’image d’émettre sensiblement. Elles apparaissent comme chargées d’une énergie, ou porteuses d’une onde, qui relie les représentations de l’artiste au domaine de l’invisible, du microscopique et de l’atomique.
Based on a rigorous photographic language that oscillates between a conceptual approach and abstraction, Audrey Bapt applies an attentive gaze to living organisms and the environment. In her work, the photographic surface comes to reveal an infrathin: an interstice of the visible world that is placed between light and dark, micro and macro, revealed by the superposition of photographs and images whose infinitesimal variations produce a rhythm, a vibration. By refusing the ease of the visible and identifiable, Audrey Bapt’s artworks unfold within a stone-cold fog that clouds the eye yet allows the image to perceptibly emerge. They appear as though charged with an energy, or as the bearers of a wave, linking the artist’s representations to the field of the invisible, microscopic, and atomic.
