Margot Monnier
La pratique de Margot Monnier s’articule autour d’un intérêt pour les matrices. L’œil humain, tout d’abord, et sa cornée, siège de la vue et plus largement de la perception, qui nous permet de nous situer et d’appréhender notre environnement. Margot Monnier’s practice revolves around an interest in matrices. First of all, the human eye and its cornea, the locus of sight and perception more broadly, which enables us to situate ourselves and perceive our environment. Pistils and shells, which each in their own way accommodates, protects, and contributes to the burgeoning of life. More recently, shelter, and what it says about our relationship to the world and to others, in the way in which we “inhabit” Earth, which is itself the cradle of everything that we have come to know. Through sculpture, installation, drawing, and text, she reproduces these spaces of mental interiority and human sociability in the form of huts, injecting into these structures her interest in plants, minerals, and living things in general.
